Character Development

Comments from our Student-Athletes

"Habitudes has been such a cool experience for me. From freshman year of watching my fellow teammates teach the lessons, to me teaching one myself, there have been many stages of growth. Being on the track team, we have more faces and not enough time in the year to get to know them all individually, but Habitudes gave us the opportunity to hear each other's hearts on leadership, dealing with struggles, finding a home away from home and so much more. Habitudes allowed us as a team to agree and disagree, but still remind us that we are all striving towards the same goal and that's what helps keep us together!"

-Erica Sergeant, 5-time A-Sun Champion, women’s pole vault

"The character development program over the past four years has increasingly impacted my life and my teammates. It was a huge developmental agent for athletes to grow mentally, emotionally, and socially in today’s world as up and coming leaders. It provided each athlete an understanding that in their own way you are a leader that has the potential and possibility to impact others’ lives around you. Habitudes over the years grew to become more interactive, which I believe was a huge benefit for everyone involved. You can either be a thermostat or a thermometer in life and Habitudes taught me that I want to be a thermostat." "

-Chandler Burks, Football, two-time Big South Conference Champion, CFPA FCS National Performer of the Year, runner-up Walter Payton Award, second-team FCS STATS all-American
